Dublin Castle & St. Patrick’s Cathedral

Next, stroll through the stately courtyards of Dublin Castle, once the seat of English rule in Ireland. Today, it’s a symbol of modern Irish sovereignty, blending medieval towers with grand state apartments.

A short drive away stands St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Ireland’s largest church and a Gothic masterpiece that has watched over Dublin for more than 800 years. 

Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver’s Travels, once served as Dean here, and the cathedral is filled with stories that connect faith, literature, and Ireland’s turbulent history.

Guinness Storehouse or Jameson Distillery

Temple Bar District

This 18th-century prison-turned-museum is where many leaders of Ireland’s independence movement were held. Its stark stone walls echo with stories of sacrifice and courage.

I had heard that driving in Ireland could be a bit tricky, so we decided to hire Prestige Ireland Tours to provide the car and driver. Brian met us at the airport in Dublin in a nice Mercedes Sprinter van that was totally comfortable for our group of four, and plenty of room to accommodate our luggage. We drove a loop over the course of four days and stayed in three cities. It was a fabulous trip and I highly recommend Prestige. We didn’t utilize all the services they have to offer, but they were so easy to work with! Michelle checked in with me a few times before the travel to make sure we didn’t have any questions or concerns. 5 star service!
